So, what’s the story here? Well, I served in the military and that’s where I first got a real taste for the outdoors. We’re talking about boots-on-the-ground, facing the elements, and living off the land kind of experience. Not just a hobby, but a real passion for hiking, survival skills, and just being out in nature.

After I left the military, I found that I missed the great outdoors’ thrilling unpredictability and the profound peace it offered. I also recognized that for many people, myself included, the high cost of new outdoor gear was a significant barrier to embracing nature fully.

That’s where Hiking Surplus comes in. I decided to do something about it and create a place where people could get their hands on top-quality gear without emptying their wallets.
